Let’s roll…

Mike diningThe famous words of Todd Beamer, the Flight 93 hero, resonate with me at this moment in time. I’m ready to roll on a lot of fronts. First of all, I’m feeling much better after two weeks of R and R, and the TLC of my amazing caregivers (Jennie and Grams). Words cannot even express what I receive; the term “angels of mercy” comes close. Once again, my family has lifted me up from the canvas. I am almost off of the oxygen, which is so very important to me and my overall attitude and psyche. I hate it. It makes me feel weak (which is stubborn and stupid, I know) but it is what it is to me. I’m still on the IV antibiotic too (another two weeks), and it has helped considerably with my ear pain. We’ve had several follow-up doctor appointments, and by all measures I am officially on the mend.

I am also ready to roll with my writing project. In fact, I have been working diligently with my incredible team on my new blog. We want the new blog to be a “go to” site for hope and inspiration. I will write more frequently. And as you see, we’ve added a more professional look and feel. I have joined Twitter and now have a professional Facebook page (promise that I won’t tell you what I had for breakfast). Work has started on my book, and we hope it will be finished in a couple of months. This is so exciting for me, and I can’t even begin to tell you how effective the motivation is to my recovery.

Spring is here in Seattle.  Baseball season has started.  And the Sox and the Giants are off to a good start.

Yeah, you bet I’m ready to roll…

I am very impressed with your positive attitude. Your web page and blog are an inspiration for many. Having had a difficult journey myself, I can relate to some of your experiences and feelings. Keep up the positive and inspirational work.

Hi Anita, thanks for you kind words, and really thrilled that I can inspire you in some small way. All of my best to you as you endure your journey, and let me know if there’s anything I can do to help. Make it a great day, you’re not alone in this :)

Thinking of you, Mike and hoping you are feeling better and stronger everyday! Sending positive, healing vibes from AZ. :) Big hugs to you, and Jennie and Charlotte too! xo

    Michael,

LOVE the new blog and the attitude. You have much love and support coming from all over – including Denver. I can’t wait for the book! Keep writing…it’s good for the spirit (I think). Love to your wife, daughter and of course your mama too. xo ~S

    • Mike Dougherty says:

Thanks Siobhan, you are an inspiration too. It takes two to tango. However, it would be much better if our connection were based on something else. Let’s focus on our parenting of little ones? What do you say? I’ll take your lead :) Thanks again for all your support.

Them’s fighting words! Your attitude is exactly right, which has to take a load off those who are around you; they don’t have to push you – you are self-driven and motivated. You probably have no idea how that makes you, and your family and friends, very, very lucky.

Thank god baseball season has arrived. Go Buster!!! <3

    • Mike Dougherty says:

Thanks for your support Sarah. You are one of my long time loyal fans. Your support means the world to me and my parents especially. And I hear ya, go Buster go Panda!! It’s great to have the sound of cracking baseball bats in the air :)

Wow, the site looks great! I’m really impressed.

And Giants came back in the ninth tonight!

    • Mike Dougherty says:

Thanks Sean, coming from a pro like you, the compliments mean extra. Had a great time at Betty with you guys on Saturday. And so far, the Giants are looking like the cardiac kids. It’s going to be a fun season.

Mike, Thanks for making it so easy for me to keep up…I am a total loss at these Twitter,Facebook, etc., like stuff. Virgil and I are so happy to hear you are on the mend and that fighting spirit is in full force once more. We’ll continue to say some prayers and hope you feel them soaring your way.

    Love you,

    Brenda

  7. Lisanne says:

    Mike,
It is SO NICE to hear from you. I was just talking about you the other day –oddly enough. Charlotte looks like such a big girl. I can’t believe how fast they are all growing up. She is beautiful and from the smile on her face at Easter appears to be a happy happy girl. Please tell her that her old friend Izzie from Leap says hello.

Wishing you and your family all of the best. Best of luck with your book. I will be sure to read it!

    warmly,
    Lisanne from Concord 😉

    • Mike Dougherty says:

Hi Lisanne, so great to hear from you as well. We have been thinking about all of our Boston friends so much lately and hoping that everyone was safe and sound. We miss you guys and Concord dearly. Please send some pics of Iz and update on your life when you get a chance. Please send to my email mdoeman@aol.com Take good care.

Mike, thank you, I somehow just received for the first time this email with blog, etc. I’m now catching up with you. I don’t have an articulate ‘reply’ to offer, but just wanted you to know that I’ve reconnected in with your life and have just spent the last hour catching up on all this. You’re amazing. Know that the Tunnells are with you and Jen. Love, Dave T.

  9. Mike Dougherty says:

Hi David, if you spent an hour on here, then you should have no trouble sleeping tonight :) I really appreciate your support. I know you guys have had challenges too, we all do, don’t we? I sure hope that everything works itself out. If travels ever bring you up Seattle way, please let us know. All our love to your whole family.
