Happy New Year…

Hi everyone,
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!  As Mike has stated in many blog updates, love your kids and be thankful for every day we have here on earth.

Mike hasn’t felt well enough to update the blog for awhile so Jen asked me to do a quick post.  Mike has spent the past 2 weeks in Seattle’s Swedish First Hill ICU.  He was admitted on Monday December 16th due abdominal pain, edema and low oxygen saturation.  His vitals now are more stable than when he was first admitted.  As he fights to build back his strength and stamina, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Charlotte is in full holiday mode enjoying Santa’s bounty and all the family and friends that have been to Seattle to visit and help in the last month.  Jen wanted me to send an enormous thank you to everyone.

We’ll update with more news soon.

Matt

Happy New Year Mike. It’s cold and snowy here in the Northeast. I f you were still living here I know you’d have something positive to say about the winter chill. Thanks for all your inspiration. It is really wonderful to be connected virtually. You remind me why I work at American Cancer Society helping to raise money for more cancer research. Sharing your story helps with that. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  3. Cheri says:

Happy New Year Matt and family. Thank you for your update as I have been thinking of Mike lately. Mike, wishing you a speeding recovery so you can be at home with your beautiful family. You didn’t miss anything at our high school reunion as there were 20 of us there:-) Rather see you in the Bay Area for your book tour. Praying that 2014 is the year you beat this for good!

Mike, hope you’re feeling better and Happy New Year to you and the family. My daughter and I are visiting my folks in Watertown, looking at colleges if you can believe it, and getting ready for a Nor’easter tomorrow. So get stronger soon, we could use some help shoveling snow! We’re thinking about and praying for you.

  9. Siobhan says:

Michael, keeping you in my thoughts! Keep building that strength and get home to your “girls.” XOXO Siobhan

    Dear Mike, Jen, and Charlotte,
I am wishing you all the best for the new year. Grant shared that you have been in the hospital, Mike, so I have been sending lots of love and light your way to get you home soon!!!! I’m glad to see Chart being indulged by Santa and family for Christmas! Thanks, Matt, for keeping us in the loop. Family and good friends really are what it is all about!

Hi Mike, we just wanted you to know that we are praying for you in Az. We hope you can get home quickly to your family! We are praying that this cancer will be beat. You have a great attitude and deserve the best! Love the Gilbert family

  13. Eileen Tong says:

Hey Mike! Here’s to wishing you and your family a bright new year! I understand you are at the hospital not feeling your best at the moment. It’s a bummer about a temporary set back, but you can always look forward to a belated celebration once you get back home.
When you get better, you and I really need to consider our television dancing debut on “Dance Party” way back when. That was eons ago before the internet was born. We need to get back together for some practice dancing sessions and then get filmed. If we can post it on YouTube, we can even dream about being as famous as Justin Bieber!
    C’mon, Mike! Let’s do it! ;-D
All kidding aside, I continue to send lots of love and best wishes that you GET WELL SOON!
    Your dancing partner,
    Eileen

  14. Nancy Cole says:

Mike- I don’t know if you remember me. We went to school together from elementary all the way through high school I believe. I am sending you Happy Birthday wishes and sincere wishes for a full speedy recovery. I remember you and Matt always playing ball on the field and in the courts. Where has the time gone! Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

    Nancy

  15. Eileen Tong says:

Happy belated Birthday and Happy New Year, Mike! I am so sorry you are not feeling well at the moment. I hope you get better and better each day. I’ve been sending love and prayers your way!
Hey Dance Partner, once you are feeling better, we must compare our calendars to see when we can get back into Boogie Fever! That’s right. Dance Party back in the 80’s was nothing! With YouTube, you and I have the chance to be as famous as Justin Bieber! ;-D
All kidding aside, we’re all fighting the fight with you and we look forward to when you are feeling much better.
    Sending warmest wishes to you,
    Eileen

  16. Bonnie Fredricks says:

Sending our love and hugs your way…Bonnie and Ray

  17. Robin says:

Thinking of you and Jen and Charlotte and your whole family. Peace and strength to all of you.

  18. Cathy Cabell says:

You are such an inspiration – to live strong and love everyday as much as you do defines greatness. Thank you for all the lessons on living with hope.
