One year ago today Mike had to go. He didn’t want to. But he did, with courage and humor and dignity. And he left beautiful memories, friends, family, and an amazing legacy. Mike was full of energy, hope, laughter, warmth, adventure, optimism, pride, gratitude and forward momentum at all times. He was brave. He was also opinionated, passionate, sometimes judgmental and none too patient. He had incredible grit and perseverance. He was fun, hard to keep up with (even when he felt horrible) and not always easy (regardless of how he was feeling). And I miss it all, every bit. The more time that...

On November 2, Mike wrote in his blog, “Some day soon I expect to do something great.” He was right.
On Tuesday, January 21, Mike won. He ended his 8-year fight with cancer and left us a life lived with passion, incomparable courage, unending optimism, love, and laughter to the very last minute.
But not before he finished a book,
Inspired many, taught us all a thing or two
Told his wife all that needs to be told and squeezed a lifetime full of love into his daughter’s hand.

Hi everyone,
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! As Mike has stated in many blog updates, love your kids and be thankful for every day we have here on earth.
Mike hasn’t felt well enough to update the blog for awhile so Jen asked me to do a quick post. Mike has spent the past 2 weeks in Seattle’s Swedish First Hill ICU. He was admitted on Monday December 16th due abdominal pain, edema and low oxygen saturation. His vitals now are more stable than when he was first admitted.
