On November 2, Mike wrote in his blog, “Some day soon I expect to do something great.” He was right.
On Tuesday, January 21, Mike won. He ended his 8-year fight with cancer and left us a life lived with passion, incomparable courage, unending optimism, love, and laughter to the very last minute.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! As Mike has stated in many blog updates, love your kids and be thankful for every day we have here on earth.

As he fights to build back his strength and stamina, please keep him in your thoughts and...

To make a long story short, a couple of weeks ago, the night of 10/17 to be exact, I pulled the typical “Mike Dougherty dumb dumb move.”
Backing up a little, for the last 3 months, I have needed to sleep with oxygen at night, which has typically not been a problem. So the night of the 17th went...

When I walked into 1221 Madison Street, I remembered the last time I did something like this was 7 years ago at Stanford. Seven years ago, I had entered the world of a chemotherapy patient while conveying the familiar IV of too many card-carrying members everywhere. Seven years ago, we didn’t have much luck, but this time I am hoping for a better outcome.
My dad has been in town for a few days, and he dropped me off raring to go on Monday morning. After a quick blood test, they wheeled me in, and just a mere 3 hours later, we were done with round 1. I go back in 8 days. We do it again. ...
